When Chad’s French in-laws visit, he invites his friend, Nolan, to keep him company while Camille and her parents speak French. During dinner, Chad learns Nolan understands French and reveals a family secret.
Chad met Camille in college, and although he’s been with her for years, he never fully learned French. When her parents visit, he feels excluded at the dinner table. To avoid being left out, Chad invites Nolan to join them.
As they dine, Nolan suddenly urges Chad to check under his bed. Hesitant but intrigued, Chad finds a black box containing photos of Camille, wearing little, along with love letters to a man named Benoit. He has a panic attack and passes out, waking up in the hospital.
Nolan explains that he understood Camille’s conversation in French, where she mentioned hiding something under the bed. He followed Chad and called for help. It turns out Camille has been having an affair with Benoit, a man her parents set her up with.
Chad confronts Camille, who admits the affair, claiming her parents pressured her into it. Chad demands a divorce. Despite Camille’s protests and attempts to control the situation, Chad refuses to reconcile. The divorce is messy, but Chad finds peace in ending the marriage, thankful for Nolan’s support.
Now, Chad wonders if Camille will end up with Benoit, as her parents would approve.
